E coli outbreak

29th August 2008

Seven people have been diagnosed with E coli 0157 in a village in Scotland.

A further eight people who share the same private water supply in homes in Auchinclech, near Westhill in Aberdeenshire, are also being tested for the infection. Two people were treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and have been discharged while others were seen by their GPs. NHS Grampian has written to all residents about the outbreak but it said that the infection was not affecting public water supplies.
