Early warning for dementia

Research carried out at Oxford University and Imperial College London has suggested that over-activity in the hippocampus could increase the danger of developing dementia in the future.

The researchers scanned brain activity in 36 participants aged 20-35. Researcher Dr Clare Mackay said: "These are exciting first steps towards a tantalising prospect: a simple test that will be able to distinguish who will go on to develop Alzheimer's."
