Eisai plans Hatfield base

Japan's fourth largest pharmaceutical company plans to create up to 500 new jobs in Hertfordshire when it opens a new European base.

Eisai plans to build the £75m site, which will include, research and development, production, sales and marketing, in Hatfield.

The building, which will integrate all the company's functions, is expected to speed up the development of medicines.

Eisai is well-known for producing drugs for Alzheimer's disease.
