Email consultations with GPs available next year

19th November 2008

Patients look set to be able to carry out e-mail consultations with GPs and other clinicians from next March.

They will be able to use a Facebook-style tool called Communicator which is set to be launched as part of development plans for HealthSpace, the online organiser that gives patients access to their NHS Summary Care Record. Through the facility patients will be able to form an affiliate relationship with their doctor, nurse or therapist, which will allow them to carry out a trusted ‘email’ consultation.
