Exercise and healthy diet for diabetes

15th March 2010

A study by UK and US researchers has shown that eating well and exercising regularly provides the best treatment for a person at risk of developing diabetes.

The researchers carried out trials involving over 9,000 people and saw that medication had little effect on preventing a person's future risk of developing the disease. Co-author Professor John McMurray from the University of Glasgow said their findings underlined how important it was for a person to change their lifestyle to prevent the disease. "Losing as little as 5% of body weight has been shown to make a dramatic difference in other studies," he added.
