Experienced mums give advice

18th December 2007
The health service has put together a team of mothers in order to provide advice and support to new mothers.

The "Community Mums" service is in operation in Methil, Fife, and has four volunteer mothers in the team. The pilot scheme is designed to help new mothers with parenting skills and to give advice on breastfeeding, through a one hour visit every month.

Chair of Community Mums, Sue Johnstone, said: "It's very difficult being a mum so I think any support, especially from other mothers, is very welcome and builds happier families."
