Finnamore named âconsultancy of the yearâ8th June 2010
Specialist healthcare management consultancy Finnamore has been awarded the coveted title âConsultants of the Year 2010â by Health Investor magazine.
It was awarded the title following its performance improvement work with Royal University Hospital Bath (RUH), and health improvement programmes such as the Core Cities Health Improvement Collaborative.
Finnamore worked with RUHâs Division of Surgery to streamline post-operative care in Orthopaedics by improving co-ordination between the disciplines and developed a new model of care which reduced the patient length of stay from an average of 7.2 days to 3.8 days.
It also worked with RUHâs Ophthalmology department to streamline its Lucentis eye-care and to manage the high demand for the treatment. Finnamore worked to remodel the pathway process to deliver a one-stop service, and devised a programme of team development so that nurses and technicians took on additional roles in diagnostics and treatment.
Finnamore was commended by judges for its âin-depth knowledge of the sector and an impressive range of outcome-focused support."
James Scott, chief executive of Royal United Hospital Bath, said of Finnamoreâs work: âThey rapidly built influential relationships with clinicians and nurses, breaking down their somewhat sceptical views about the value of âmanagement consultantsâ, listened, built a good understanding of the culture and workings of the organisation and tailored their approach to different groups of people in a pragmatic way. (They) gave my teams the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and the skills to bring their ideas to life.â
Finnamore was also commended for its work as programme manager for the Core Cities Health Improvement Collaborative, a ground breaking project to develop an approach to engaging clinicians and patients to achieve better health and better healthcare outcomes.
Finnamore became the UKâs largest specialist healthcare management consultancy following a merger in 2009 with two other consultancies and is now able to support clients throughout the whole improvement cycle â from agreeing strategy to benefits realisation.
