First GP health centre opens

28th November 2008

The government's health secretary Alan Johnson opened the first of 152 new GP polyclinics in England on 28 November.

The Hillside Bridge Health Care Centre, in Bradford, will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Mr Johnson said: "Health centres like this one and others opening around the country are an addition to and complement existing GP services, providing more capacity in primary care and offering patients greater choice and flexibility."
