Fit for Work scheme roll out

27th March 2008

A GP involved in the development of a new sickness scheme says a network of GPSIs in occupational medicine should be established to lead the roll out of the Fit for Work service.

The service was announced by national director for health and work Dame Carol Black as part of her overhaul of the current sickness scheme in England. Leicestershire GP Dr Robert Hampton, a GP advisor to Dame Carol’s review, believes there is an opportunity for GPSIs in occupational health to be appointed as clinical directors for health and work at PCT level to help run the programme.
