Flu jab reminder for health staff

22nd October 2012

A reminder has been issued to health staff to get a flu vaccination to help cut the risk of it spreading to patients and colleagues this winter.

The Department of Health says that frontline healthcare workers are more likely to be exposed to the influenza virus, particularly during winter months when some of the people in their care will be infected. Figures suggest that a quarter of healthcare workers may become infected during a mild influenza season, which is much higher than expected in the general population.
