Flu knocks out 300 school children

8th October 2009

More than 300 pupils at a Scottish school are off sick with many suffering flu-like symptoms.

A quarter of pupils Linlithgow Academy in West Lothian are ill and 14 are confirmed as having swine flu. West Lothian Council has written to all parents as a precautionary measure but it stressed there were no plans to close schools in the area. NHS Lothian is working closely with the council and stressed that good hand and personal hygiene would help reduce the spread of the virus.
