Food poisoning fears at racecourse

24th August 2011

A possible food poisoning incident is being investigated after 11 people fell ill at Hamilton Park racecourse.

Three people needed hospital treatment after visiting the racecourse in South Lanarkshire on Monday though they have since been discharged and are recovering well along with the other eight people. All those affected were adults and suffered a combination of vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea and abdominal pain. While initial investigations suggested their illness was linked to food they ate at the race day, no source has yet been identified.
