Free NHS IVF treatment pledge

29th April 2009

NHS East of England will be the first region in the UK to fund all eligible couples for up to six attempts at pregnancy with fertility treatment.

The move to provide free access to fertility treatment in the eastern region starts on May 1, though couples have to meet specific criteria, in particular that women must be aged between 23 and 39 with no children from the current relationship, to qualify for the IVF treatment. They must also be registered with a GP in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
