Free prescriptions in Wales

2nd October 2012

The Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones has told Labour's conference in Manchester that free prescriptions will stay a priority for Wales in the next election.

Before the conference Mr Jones told BBC Radio Wales that free prescriptions and bus passes for over-60s would be in the manifesto for the assembly election in 2016. He said: "We believe it's important that we have an NHS that's free at the point of delivery. We are not going to change the policy on free prescriptions." He added: "If you see a doctor for free then obviously medicines should be free as well."
