Free sun cream to homeless

16th June 2009

The charity Sunwise has said it will hand out factor 30 suncream to the homeless in Edinburgh to protect against skin cancer.

The sun cream will be funded by the Co-operative Pharmacy and will be handed out at hostels, hospitals and GP surgeries.  Gordon Farquhar, commercial director of the Co-operative Pharmacy, said: "...for the UK's homeless people, sun protection is an unaffordable commodity, not an essential precaution. As a community pharmacy, we're dedicated to looking after the health and well-being of all the people within the communities we serve which is why we're providing free sun cream and after-sun lotion to support this initiative."
