Free vitamins for pregnant women

25th March 2010

Vitamin pills could be free to all pregnant and breastfeeding women and young children across Wales if a pilot scheme proves a success.

Under a scheme to be launched at the Ely and Caerau Centre in Cardiff, vitamins will be free at health centres and given out by health visitors as a drive to "give children the best start in life". The scheme, which will run for a year and cost £53,000, follows findings that half of all children under five do not have enough vitamin A in their diet.
