Genetic service launched

31st August 2006

Opaldia has launched a new service to offer a comprehensive genetics programme for breast and other cancers.

It will offer genetic medicine services, including: genetic information, counselling and testing services; gene profiling initially for breast cancer and cancer of unknown primary (CUP); lifetime cancer surveillance programmes.

It will also provide the latest proven molecular diagnostic testing for cancer, plus research and development to help advance the field. The company is working under the medical guidance of leading oncologists, Karol Sikora, professor of cancer medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine, and Dr James Mackay, consultant clinical genetic oncologist with University College London. Clinics will be run initially at private hospitals and clinics in London, with further clinics to be rolled out across the UK.
