GMC launches consultation

22nd August 2007

A consultation exercise has been launched by the General Medical Council (GMC) on how best to go about implementing a civil standard of proof for doctors whose fitness to practice is being questioned.

The regulator is proposing to make explicit reference to the standard of proof required in its fitness to practise rules and has drafted guidance on the application of the proposed change. The consultation, which runs until October 31, will include a series of workshops in early October in London, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
