GMC plans ' could punish doctors'

Plans to lower the standard of proof at medical disciplinary hearings could unfairly punish doctors and may lead to a greater number being struck off. The General Medical Council which licenses doctors to practice medicine, is planning to change the standard of proof to the civil level of the balance of probabilities when ruling on disputed facts of allegations against medical professionals.
