GP competition driving up opening hours

NHS Choices statistics show that "competition among GPs" is fuelling later opening hours in practices across the country.

43% of GP practices offered extended opening hours if their nearest practice (within 2km) also offered it.  The Department of Health has estimated that only 1,700 practices need to adopt extended opening for it to achieve its target of 50%.
