GPs to report side effects online

7th July 2009

The MHRA has launched a new system which allows doctors to report the side effects of anti-viral medication.

This will allow the MHRA to monitor the use of medication used to treat swine flu.  Dr June Raine, director of vigilance and risk management of medicine at the MHRA, said: "Tamiflu and Relenza are acceptably safe and most people will not suffer any side effects."

"Like all medicines, the MHRA keeps the safety of these continually under review and we are keen to let people know there is a new way to tell us of any side effect suspicions."
