GPs use pathology e-requesting

14th February 2008

Doctors’ surgeries in East Anglia are using a new communication system to request pathology tests from a nearby hospital.

The GP practices in Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and the Waveney area of Suffolk have started operating the new order communications solution called GP RequestVision from Olympus to get the data from the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at Gorleston. They order pathology tests online with a tick box-style form interfaced with their GP system. The form is then electronically transferred directly to the laboratory.
