GPs win contract for Darzi centre

6th June 2008

A local GP partnership has beaten off competition from the private sector to be chosen as the preferred bidder for the first GP-led health centre contract awarded under Lord Darziā€™s nationwide tender process.

GPs at King Street surgery in Kempston have been chosen by Bedfordshire PCT to run the Putnoe Medical Centre, ahead of Care UK, ADP Healthcare, and other GP-commercial bidders. The bid is in collaboration with Dr Emmanuel Ochola, who is a current GP Partner at the Putnoe centre.
