GPs 'worry' about future

25th October 2007

A new Europe-wide poll has declared that GPs in the UK are the happiest in Europe over pay but still have worries about the future.

French GP magazine Le Generaliste carried out the survey among 399 GPs from the UK, Italy, France, Germany and Spain and found that more than half of doctors in Britain were happy with their pay, which has broken through the £100,000 barrier since the new contract was introduced in 2004. However, government focus is now on UK GPs with ministers calling for them to extend their opening hours.
