Grandmother dies after misdiagnosis

29th June 2012

Grandmother Eva Hudson died after a doctor misdiagnosed kidney failure for hookworm.

Dr Neeraj Tekkar believed Mrs Hudson, 77, was suffering from hookworm when she was rushed to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Dorset, but she had kidney disease and died four days later. Dr Tekkar moved to the UK in 2009 and started working at the hospital in 2011. An inquest into Mrs Hudson’s death recorded a verdict that she died of natural causes with “neglect a contributory factor”.
