Health Apps Library launched

15th March 2013

NHS innovation took a step forward this week with the launch of the first iteration of the new Health Apps Library.

Unveiled at the NHS Innovation Expo 2013, it comes as a new £250,000 fund for developers who want to create apps to benefit patients and the public was also announced. The library already contains 70 apps, with a further 10 added at the event in London. The service has been created by the NHS Commissioning Board following feedback from patients and clinicians about the large number of health apps available but with no way of knowing which are clinically safe.
