Health Centre ruling overturned

25th August 2006

The Derbyshire woman has won her appeal court fight against the contract given to healthcare corporation UnitedHealth Europe (UHE) to run Creswell Health Centre in Derbyshire. The court of appeal judged the decision had not been subject to proper consultation.

This overturned a previous High Court verdict which said that consultation had not been carried out, but that the contract would ‘probably’ have been given to UHE anyway. The appeal court ruled that ‘probability’ was not enough. A full consultation will now take place before the tender process to run the Health Centre is reopened.
