Health Education England chief named

20th June 2012

National director of quality Ian Cumming is set to be the first chief executive of Health Education England.

The move will see him oversee the role of Local Education and Training Boards and the increased involvement of NHS employers in training the next generation of healthcare workers. Mr Cumming, a former chief executive of NHS West Midlands, will lead HEE as it looks to develop the new education and training landscape in the NHS. He will continue to perform his current Department of Health role while HEE is established.
