Heart patient alert after deaths

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has contacted 14 people who had heart valve surgery at the Trent Cardiac Centre after three people died.

The three deaths were caused by staphylococcal skin infections. Medical director Dr Stephen Fowlie said infections could be "very serious". "We have contacted 15 patients who had very similar operations for tests to check their health and post-operative recovery," he said.
