Hewitt to advise Boots

Patricia Hewitt, the former health secretary, has accepted a position as an adviser to Alliance Boots.

Information provided by a Whitehall committee revealed that Ms Hewitt will advise Boots on medical decisions for "up to 24 days a year, although she cannot lobby the government on its behalf until she has been out of office a year".
