High Court blocks hospital whistleblower move

26th July 2012

Alder Hey Children’s Foundation Trust in Liverpool has been halted in its attempts to stage a meeting which could have led to the dismissal of a paediatric surgeon who had raised concerns about safety.

A High Court injunction has been issued to prevent the move with the order gained by consultant Edwin Jesudason, preventing the trust from staging a panel meeting at which he could have been dismissed from his job. His lawyers convinced the judge that the trust had breached its contract with him by not following its conduct and capability process.
