Highest NHS earners named

An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph has uncovered at least 660 NHS managers who earn more than the Prime Minister.

There are a significant number of NHS managers who earn more than £200,000 a year with the highest paid being David Bennett who was paid £282,500 when he was interim chief executive of Monitor, independent regulator of NHS foundation trusts, from March 2010 to February 2011. He was followed by Neil Lloyd, chief executive, NHS Professionals (£282,500); and Ruth Carnall, chief executive, London Strategic Health Authority (£277,500). David Cameron earns £142,500 a year.
