Home health-check to be rolled out

7th December 2011

A Telehealth trial piloted in Cornwall which enables patients to monitor their health from home is to be rolled out across the UK.

Prime Minister David Cameron has said that the Telehealth trial run by NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly had reduced death rates by 45% and hospital admissions by 20%. More than 1,000 people have been involved in the two-year trial which sees Telehealth computers check peoples’ vital signs and send data to medical staff who can intervene if necessary.
