Hospital bug numbers declining

Tough new hygiene measures means the number of people contracting superbugs is declining.

June saw a fall of 27% on April this year, with a 40% fall compared to the same time last year.

In people aged 2 and over cases of Clostridium difficile was down 18% from the previous quarter and 37% from last year.

A spokesperson for the Health Protection Agency said "these are impressive results."
