Hospital furniture made to tackle bugs

The Design Council have revealed new prototype hospital furniture designed to tackle superbugs and made to be simple to clean.

The designs include a mattress, beside cabinet, self-timing cannula and chair. Professor Brian Duerden, inspector of microbiology and infection control at the Department of Health says: "These new designs are about breaking the chain of transmission between patients and staff. The prototypes are easy to use and easy to clean."
