Hospital parking charges to stay

13th September 2010

The coalition government has said that getting rid of hospital car parking fees would be too costly.

The previous Labour government had planned to stop the charges within three years. Minister of State for the Department of Health Simon Burns said: "For a long time we have been unconvinced that Labour’s car parking idea was properly funded and practical. We will publish a response to the NHS car parking consultation soon and all decisions will be subject to the spending review."
