Hospital takeover bid stopped

26th October 2012

The planned acquisition of Epsom Hospital by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals Foundation Trust has been halted by NHS London.

Epsom is part of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals, which is one of five trusts predicting a deficit at the end of 2012/13, and reports to NHS London despite sitting in NHS South of England’s area. An earlier bid for St Helier from St George’s Healthcare Trust was dropped in January. NHS London said “urgent discussions” were taking place about Epsom and St Helier’s future form.
