Hospital Work Road Warning

1st May 2007

Builders will start work on the latest phase of the building to replace Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak hospitals today and will close off part of a busy road in the suburb. A stretch of Metchley Park Road will be shut between the junction with Metchley Lane, near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the playing fields. Construction company BNH JV said the closure was necessary but would not affect the residential section of the road. Bosses have also pledged to keep an engineer on-site during peak times to reduce congestion and ensure that emergency vehicles can pass easily through the works.
