Hospital worker suspended over data loss

6th May 2010

A hospital worker in Scotland has been suspend after a computer storage device which held medical records of patients being treated in a secure hospital was discovered in a supermarket car park.

The memory stick, which was found by a boy of 12 at Stenhousemuir near Falkirk, held the criminal history of some violent patients being held in the Tryst Park unit of Bellsdyke Hospital. NHS Forth Valley confirmed that a member of staff had been suspended in connection with the incident.
