Hygiene codes failed at health trust

18th June 2009

Healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission has said the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) has failed to meet government infection control standards.

The trust has accepted it did not comply with all three of the government's hygiene code standards in the year to the end of March 2009 and though local managers say they have already improved their performance, they admit there is still much to do. Ian Biggs of the CQC added the RCHT was taking the issues "extremely seriously".
