IAPT programme hailed a success

Moves by the government to boost access to psychological therapies have been hailed a success.

A Department of Health evaluation on the first three years of the department’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme shows that more than a million people have used the services and there is a recovery rate that sits above 45 % However, there is a concern that the IAPT success has led to increase waiting list because of a dramatic increase in the number of referrals.
