Illegal abortions still happening

23rd November 2007

An undercover report by BBC Radio 5 Live has found that illegal abortions are still being carried out in the UK.

The team uncovered evidence which showed that pills used for terminating pregnancy were "readily available on the black market". Staff posed as illegal immigrants and were able to buy herbal mixtures and the abortion pill RU486.

The undercover reporters had tracked information available in internet chat room conversations by women seeking abortion advice.
