Immunology cases reviewed

20th October 2011

Concerns over the management of patients have led to 59 people with conditions affecting their immune systems being offered review appointments at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The move follows a report commissioned by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust after the concerns, which covered patients with chronic skin conditions, extreme allergies or joint problems. While it was unclear where there had been wrong drugs or wrong treatment, the move is a precautionary measure to ensure the patients affected had received appropriate treatment.
