Improvement notice for hospital

28th February 2008

Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust has been told to change its infection control practices after it was issued with an improvement notice by the Healthcare Commission.

The Commission made an unannounced visit to the hospital on February 4 and then requested documentation of policies and procedures for its infection control measures. It found breaches of the hygiene code, which covers arrangements for clean and appropriate premises and decontamination of equipment. Following the visit, the hospital has said that it has moved quickly to implement the commission’s recommendations and comply with all requirements of the improvement notice.
