Independent healthcare ratings

5th January 2007

A new website has been launched to give patients and the public easier access to information on standards in the independent health sector.

The site has been set up by the watchdog Healthcare Commission and can be found on their website at www.healthcarecommission.org.uk.

The website assesses performance in independent acute hospitals, mental health units and independent sector treatment centres against 32 core standards and a range of service-specific standards. These are not the same as those applied to the NHS, but cover broadly similar issues.
