JK Rowling had suicidal thoughts

As a struggling single mother in the early 1990s and suffering from depression, JK Rowling comtemplated suicide.


After separating from her husband, the Harry Potter author thought about killing herself and sought professional help.  She was prescribed cognitive behavioural therapy which helps control negative thoughts.

She told an Edinburgh University student magazine 'The thing that made me go for help was probably my daughter'.
