Johnson wants fewer London PCTs

31st October 2008

Health secretary Alan Johnson has said the number of primary care trusts responsible for care in London was "not the most sensible arrangement".

Speaking to the Health Service Journal, Mr Johnson said there should be a discussion regarding the 31 trusts which cover the London area. He said: "I'm not going to do anything from here; we are not having any more top-down reorganisations, but I think there needs to be a debate in London about whether there should be a bottom-up approach there."
