Lancashire PCTs to review funding

17th November 2010

Primary Care Trusts in Lancashire have been asked to consider restricting NHS funding of a range of procedures to save money.

Blackburn with Darwen NHS Care Plus Trust, NHS Blackpool, NHS Central Lancashire, NHS East Lancashire and NHS North Lancashire have published a list of more than 70 procedures for which NHS funding for future patients is under review. The list includes cosmetic procedures such as baldness, tattoo removal and breast augmentation, including after mastectomy. Treatments for varicose vein, hernia, hysterectomy and bariatric surgery will also be looked at.
