Lassa fever man dies

A spokesman from the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead has confirmed that a 66-year-old man who was receiving treatment for Lassa fever has died.

The man had recently returned from a trip to Nigeria and came into hospital at the beginning of January. The diagnosis of Lassa fever was made on 22 January at the Hospital for Tropical diseases. The patient's death was caused by "a sudden deterioration in his condition".
