Launch of NHS stress helpline

30th December 2009

The government has launched an NHS helpline across England to help people struggling with stress.

It follows concerns about the mounting problems people will face in coming months because of the economy and sees trained health advisers on the end of a phone from 8am to 8pm every day to offer advice on debt, housing and employment. Staff can also put people in touch with mental health services amid estimates that 25% of people with mental health problems experience debt, but a third of those do not ask for any help.
